After a day and a half of motorsailing, we finally found land, and it was indeed our destination, Bermuda! As we got closer, we noticed clouds rolling in and the skies turned green. In Texas that means tornados! With 5 miles left to the dock and only 2-3 miles offshore, the rain came down so hard that Bermuda disappeared entirely! Luckily it was a short powerful storm that dissipated just before we entered Town Cut around 9am. This entrance is protected by Gates Fort and is the main entrance to St. Georges Harbor. Once through the cut we docked and walked over to be processed by Bermuda Customs.

A wonderful delivery with seasoned old salts, I’ll gladly sail with this group again!

Little to no wind today, almost glassy seas, nothing but blue skies and puffy white clouds,

We will be on the lookout for a Green Flash tonight!

at 14:30, we are about 120nm from Bermuda, we are expecting landfall tomorrow morning

Looks like we are finally out of the storms, today was the perfect sailing day. Beam winds of about 10-15 kts kept us moving solidly along at around 7-8kts! At this rate we expect to make landfall in Bermuda sometime Saturday morning.

After dodging and plowing through storms for the past few days, today was absolutely delightful! Clear skies with a scattering of puffy white clouds and calm deep blue seas made for a wonderful journey today! Finished the day off with only ~222nm remaining to Bermuda. We should make landfall there on Saturday morning!

Rather large swells of about 10′-15′ out here, I think of them as gentle giants as we float over and around them. We finally got caught by a storm, the wind was rather nice and cooperated to move Kleos along at a ripping 7-8kts fully under sail!

We spent the day dodging storms, there were multiple storms everywhere, luckily we were able to slip between almost all of them, only catching a small amount of rain.
The lightning was rather intimidating.

We left Nanny Cay around 11am and made our way to Sopers Hole to clear customs. That was a quick and easy process, we were on our way northbound and headed to Bermuda before noon.

Wonderful day of sailing with a nice sunset. After sunset, however, the storms built up. We spent the rest of the night dodging storms.

Overbooked flight?

Well, it looks like American has overbooked one of my flights. As a result, they are graciously offering to let me change my flights with no fees. Basically, that means they are offering to let me change from a ~7-8 hour flight to a ~ 15 hour flight at NO EXTRA CHARGE to me!!!

I said No Thanks!!!

British Virgin Islands > Bermuda

I have been contacted by a friend for assistance on one leg of another delivery. This vessel is an Amel Super Maramu 53. The owners bought the boat in Sint Maarten and need it in the northeast US. I’ll be a part of the crew from April 11 in Nanny Cay, British Virgin Islands to St. Georges Island, Bermuda, hopefully around April 20.

Currently the weather looks fine. We’ll be watching the forecasts religiously and making adjustments to our plans as needed based on the current conditions.
